Crossville’s Tennessee College of Applied Technology will partner with the incoming Maverik Oils company by supplying new graduates.
TCAT-Crossville President Cliff Wightman says the partnership will help the company launch their new facility.
“Maverik Oils will utilize a lot of our Industrial Maintenance program graduates,” Wightman says. “They’re probably going to need some clerical and other things of that nature, maybe some networking people too. So we’re really excited about that partnership with them. Looking forward to seeing them getting started up.”
Maverik Oils is based in Redlands, California, specializing in producing food-grade oils for baking, cooking, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical purposes.
Wightman says having the partnership established early on will greatly benefit the school, Maverik Oils, and everyone involved in the project.
“That’s crucial and I think it’s the key component where… everybody is on board with the same mission,” Wightman says. “We have Tennessee Economic Development, you have everyone in the Tennessee Board of Regents office, the local chambers, local city and county governments. Everybody is on board to help businesses launch and be successful.”
TCAT will break ground on a new 12,000 square foot building to house its Industrial Maintenance program with hopes of having it completed by this December.
Maverik hosted a soft-opening at its new facility in October with plans to use the space for production and distribution. A 30,000 square foot expansion will take place during the second phase of the project and will include construction of a laboratory.
