Cookeville Woman Dies In Head-On Collision

A 53-year-old Cookeville woman died in a head-on collision Tuesday between Gainesboro and Baxter. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports Penny Maxwell died when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Tiffany Gaw of Baxter. June Sales Tax Revenues Up 10% Over 2019

It appears Putnam County has weathered the feared sales tax downturn from COVID as June revenue numbers increased 10.3 percent over last year. Baxter Planning Approves New Subdivision Plat

The Baxter Planning Commission approved a preliminary plat for a new subdivision at the corner of Highway 56 and Highway 70. A total of 88 lots are included in the 36.7 acres. Putnam County refinanced its 2013 school bonds this week and saved some $3.6 million in interest. Putnam Set To Reduce Interest Costs By $1.8M

Putnam County should save some $1.8 million in interest costs by refinancing the bonds on Monterey and Upperman schools.
