T-DOT Working Through Jefferson Ave. Widening Project Delays

Utility relocations are currently underway for T-DOT’s Jefferson Avenue widening project stretching from I-40 to Highway 111.

Communications Relations Officer Rae Anne Bradley said that includes electric, fiber, gas, water, and sewer. She said that part of the work is moving from south to north of the project.

“Some stream relocations, construction of box culverts, and drainage installation work are all in progress at the south end of the project,” Bradley said. “And then these activities along with dirt work will progress at utility relocations progress to the north end of the project.”

Bradley said the completion date of the project was originally scheduled for September 30th 2024. She said the contractor is currently scheduled to finish by mid-summer of 2025.

Bradley said the new date is due to material delivery delays as a result of supply chain issues.
