One person suffered injuries during an apartment fire in Putnam County Tuesday.
According to officials with the Putnam County Fire Department, the fire broke out at Sun Valley Apartments on Benton Young Road.
Wayne Golberger is the Assistant Fire Chief for the Putnam County Fire Department.
“Crews entered from the front and then we had crews come in from the back to attack the fire,” Golberger said. “When we did a primary search, we did find one victim that we pulled out and had transported to the hospital.”
Officials said the victim was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment to undisclosed injuries. The unidentified person’s condition is unknown.
Golberger said the fire has been put out but inspectors will have to wait to determine a cause due to carbon monoxide levels.
“Carbon monoxide levels are still pretty high,” Golberger said. “We still have to wear an air pack. Once we’ve vented it and are able to get all the materials that have burnt… investigators will go through it and we’ll start trying to piece together what caused it.”
Golberger said a cause has not been determined at this time.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Department has temporarily closed Benton Young between Sun Valley Circle and County Farm Road. Drivers are encouraged to use Willow Avenue or County Farm Road as detours.
