Storm Causes Issues In Cookeville Thursday

A storm system caused a few issues as it moved through parts of the Upper Cumberland Thursday evening.

Putnam County EMA Director Tyler Smith said the heavy downpours caused a few problems on the roadways.

“We’ve had some flooded roadways and we did have a car stranded in front of lows on Neal Street, but we got those folks out,” Smith said. “We did have a tree across the roadway on 7th and Jefferson.

Water was also reported over the road on Walton Lane and 12th Street.

Smith said the city and county experienced some sporadic power outages, along with Overton County. Some downed trees were also reported in Celina.
