State Senator Paul Bailey was reappointed as the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee Chair.
Bailey said the committee is all about business. Bailey said it is responsible for six departments of state government such as commerce and insurance as well as labor and workforce.
“Our Economic and Community Development Department is one of the department I works with on a daily and weekly basis to make sure the Upper Cumberland is getting its fair share of projects.” Bailey said.
This marks Bailey’s 5th General Assembly leading the committee. Bailey said he expects commercial tax relief to be a main talking point for legislators. Specifically, the Franchise and Excise Tax on Corporations or Limited Liability Companies.
Financial Institutions and TennCare also fall under the committee.
