State Rep. Sherrell Reelected As Republican Floor Leader

State Representative Paul Sherrell of Sparta will continue as the Republican Floor Leader when the Tennessee General Assembly reconvenes next month.

Sherrell was reelected by his peers to serve as the fifth-ranking officer in the House Republican Caucus. Duties as a Floor Leader include working toward passage of all administrative bills approved by the Republican Bill Review Committee, as well as any legislation initiated by the House Republican Caucus.

“I am grateful for the support and trust my colleagues have placed in me to continue serving as their Republican Floor Leader,” Sherrell said. “The Volunteer State is thriving under conservative leadership, and we are unified in our goal to make Tennessee the best place in the nation to live, work, raise a family and retire.”

Sherrell will also supervise the assistant floor leader and serve as coordinator of the Republican Caucus Candidate Recruitment and Development Committee.

“I appreciate Paul Sherrell’s desire to continue serving as Republican Floor Leader during the 112th General Assembly,” House Speaker Cameron Sexton said. “His knowledge and expertise on important issues impacting the citizens of Tennessee will benefit all of us.”

The 112th General Assembly convenes January 12, 2021.
