State Grant Going Towards Completion Of Cookeville Habitat Home

Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity has received extra state funding to build a new home in Cookeville’s West End.

Director of Development and Communications Casey Clark-Jackson said this future home owner is a single mother of four kids. Clark-Jackson said this extra funding bridges the gap to get a home completed.

“It is 100 percent essential,” Clark-Jackson said. “With the way that the pricing and inflation is going right now, it’s not really fair for us to request that much funding from our community. Even though we know how generous they are.”

Clark-Jackson said the future home could not be going to a more deserving person. Clark-Jackson said this annual support they receive would not be possible without fundraising done by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.

“This is something that is presented to all of the Habitat affiliates in Tennessee every year,” Clark-Jackson said. “Thanks to THDA’s fundraising of their own and the agencies where they get their funds.”

The funds from this THDA grant come from the Tennessee Housing Trust Fund. In total, $1.8 million was dispersed to Habitat for Humanity across the state to complete 50 new homes for low-income families.
