The UCHRA could soon give part of its South Jefferson Avenue headquarters to a Tennessee state agency.
Executive Director Mark Farley told the agency’s Board of Directors that state officials are interested in leasing part of the UCHRA’s facility.
“We are in serious talks right now with the State of Tennessee,” Farley said. “I’m not going to get into the particular details, but there are particular state agencies that are looking at coming in. They’re possibly looking at 15,000-16,000 square feet in our building here.”
The UCHRA will soon move its workforce development into the Upper Cumberland Development District’s (UCDD) new headquarters off England Drive later this year.
Farley said the Board will ultimately have the final say if the state and the UCHRA come to an agreement.
“There is the potential that we may need to have a special-called meeting, but we’ll probably be able to handle that in June from a timing standpoint,” Farley said. “Hopefully it’ll work out. We do have the opportunity. Based on their conversations with us, they really like the location.”
farley said the agency will work with Upper Cumberland Commerical Real Estate Services to help determine the future of the office space.
