A Thursday morning crash in Cumberland County claimed the life of a Spring City man.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 28-year-old Phillip Perry.
Officials said the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 127 South and Hillendale Road when Perry lost control of his 2009 Chevrolet Colbalt and struck a utility pole.
According to the THP crash report, Perry was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Highway 127. The report said Perry overcorrected, causing the vehicle to run off the side of an embankment before going airborne and striking the utility pole.
Perry became trapped inside the vehicle after it came to a rest on the drivers side. The crash report indicated that Perry was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
