More Tennessee Tech professors get research grants now than ever before.
TTU Vice President of Research and Economic Development Dr. Bharat Soni said sponsored research helps professors grow their knowledge and helps students learn more.
“Faculty members and research groups on campus write proposals to the federal government the state or to the industry to get funding for a particular research emphasis,” Soni said.
Professors and students work on many of the projects together, which draws more students to TTU. It also draws the attention of industry.
“When you look at industry, they’re looking at problem solving and also innovation, where they can apply new technologies and solve some problems using state of the art technologies,” Soni said.
Last year an all time high 153 research proposals were funded.
