Families with special needs children will not miss out on the Rising Above Ministries Hollywood themed Heroes’ Ball.
Rising Above Ministries Co-Founder Becky Davidson said the 14th year of the Heroes’ Ball will have dancing, a DJ and games for families to play Friday.
Davidson said this event is to show families they are not forgotten during the pandemic, and show those will special needs they are an inspiration.
“Our friends with special needs who just inspire us everyday,” Davidson said. “As they live out their lives, smiling through when they’re sick and when they’re in pain and when they’re having a hard day, where they just continue to press on.”
Davidson said Rising Above Ministries would like to do more virtual events because of the success with participation in an event earlier this year. Expanding the number of families they can reach when they go virtual.
“We typically have had about 150 moms come from around the southeast for that event,” Davidson said. “We actually reached close to 550 moms who are raising children with special needs from all around the world.”
Davidson said reaching more families is part of Rising Above Ministries goal. Because of the unique circumstances that come with raising a special needs child. Avoiding a feeling of further isolation during the pandemic.
“You just need to be reminded that you’re not alone,” Davidson said. “So often, special needs families feel so isolated, so alone that nobody sees them in their day-to-day struggles.”
To participate, visit Rising Above Ministries website to register. The event will take place on their website Friday, at 7:00 PM.
