Sparta Aldermen practicing patience as they are still waiting to receive final plans for the city’s $2.3 million splash pad project.
The city dealing with delays in the project due to design concerns. Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery said the city held a meeting with the contractor to discuss concept plans for the project.
“They gave us two concepts it really wasn’t even a design as much it was a concept and they said which one do you like better and we all went with one that was like a circular deal,” Lowery said. “It’s not even public-ready yet if that would be the case but we did look at it and we all agreed this is the concept that we would like to go with.”
Lowery said the contractor will now put the finishing touches on the design and present it back to the city for approval. Lowery said he expects to receive the final design within three to four weeks.
“They said they would do the designs and hopefully in the near future we will see that and they will say this is where these things are going to go and then look at all the drainage and stuff that needs to take place.”
Lowery said he is still hopeful to have the Splash Pad completed by July 1st. Lowery said it is still unclear with the delays if the completion date will need to be moved.
