Sparta Sees High-Wind Damage From Tuesday Storm, Residents Without Power

Sparta took some significant wind damage during Tuesday’s storms.

Public Works Director Dillard Quick said that several trees fell, taking down power lines and blocking roads. Quick said that some electric customers have had to go without power into Wednesday.

“North side of town, the Rainbow Subdivision there’s north and east Edgewood, there were several trees down, several people without power last night,” Quick said. “Like I said, within a couple hours we had the roads cleared to where the electric department could get in and out and try to get those people back up and running.”

Quick said the expectation is to have everyone back in power Wednesday. Quick said that at least two Edgewood residents had trees fall onto their home.
