Sparta Police Chief Jeff Guth said security and traffic aren’t usually a concern during the Million Dollar Mile Yard Sale.
“Course there may be a little more congestion this year with the construction on Bockman Way, may hamper things a little bit, but no, my officers will just work and patrol,” Guth said.
He said in past years, there’s been the occasional fender-bender. There’s also a few businesses along Bockman Way that would prefer not to be blocked by the sale, so officers ask folks to move or occasionally give out a ticket or two.
The Million Dollar Mile Yard Sale begins at daybreak Saturday. Hundreds of vendors will line up along U.S. 70 throughout White County.
A project to upgrade sewers, sidewalks and storm drains on Bockman Way began this summer. TDOT hopes to pave the road in the spring.
