Sparta Man Dies After Sunday Motorcycle Crash

A Sparta man has died after a Sunday morning motorcycle crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 55-year-old Richard Roam.

The THP reports Roam was traveling north on McMinnville Highway when the incident occurred. A crash report states Roam attempted to negotiate a small curve when he traveled off the right side of the roadway.

The report indicates Roam then traveled across Bryan Road and struck a utility support cable. Roam was then thrown from the motorcycle before he and the bike came to a final rest in a gully.

The THP report indicates alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.
