Sparta’s garbage trucks should all be ready to work this week.
City Public Works Director Dillard Quick told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen the city’s main truck had been repaired two more times since the last meeting.
Two weeks ago, the city had to rent a garbage truck to collect resident’s trash.
Friday, city workers took the truck back to Louisville, then went to Nashville to pick up the main truck from a repair shop. The truck should be out collecting trash Monday.
Quick said he had received more than 500 phone calls related to the late garbage pick-ups.
An older garbage truck is being repaired by city maintenance workers, Quick said. At its last meeting, the board approved more than $30,000 to repair the backup truck. Quick said he hopes much of that work can be done by city workers, saving the board some money.
