Sparta Garbage Service Back On Track Monday

Garbage service in the City of Sparta should resume as normal Monday.

Public Works Director Dillard Quick said the city’s primary garbage truck broke down last week. The secondary truck broke down shortly afterward.

Quick said residents can put out bags of trash with their cans on their regular garbage day, or take their garbage to a convenience center.

Quick told the city’s board of mayor and aldermen he was renting a truck and city workers would travel to Louisville to pick it up Friday.

That rental comes at a cost of $2,500 a week or $6,500 a month. Quick said he hoped the primary truck would be repaired soon.
