Sparta’s long-planned paving project is one step closer to reality.
The city’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted a bid to pave Roosevelt Drive from Spring Street to just past Allen Drive.
The winning bid of $131,509 went to Rogers Group, a Nashville Construction firm.
City Administrator Chris Dorsey said TDOT needs to approve the bid, because the city is using a TDOT grant to pay for it.
The deadline to begin the project is October 20.
“I know the contractor wants to start on it earlier than that, which is fine with us and it’ll be a two week project, hopefully that means before or by the end of fall break, that road will be done,” Dorsey said.
Once TDOT has approved, the city can give Rogers Group approval to proceed, Dorsey said.
