Sparta American Legion Giving Free Estate And Legal Services

Sparta’s American Legion Post 99 hosting free estate planning and legal services Friday as a part of Veteran’s Day.

Post Commander Ron Lapierre said Attorney John Meadows will be at the Maple Street office by appointment only to assist veteran families.

“That’s one of the things we are trying to push at the American Legion is to get veterans to find out what is available for them, because there is a lot people who have no clue,” Lapierre said. “I was talking to the attorney John Meadows and he said the average will costs $180.”

Lapierre said this will be the first time the Sparta Post has conducted an event like this. Lapierre said the plan is to provide the service annually.

“I think this is awesome,” Lapierre said. “A lot of guys don’t have them (wills), because a lot of us really can’t afford. That’s a luxury, so I am looking forward to doing more of these events.”

Lapierre said call (931) 256- 5023 to make an appointment for Friday between the times 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Lapierre said durable general powers of attorneys and healthcare will also be available.
