Sparta’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold the second reading of its budget at its Thursday meeting.
The budget doesn’t call for any tax increases. City Administrator Chris Dorsey said it was a tight budget that he was proud to deliver to council.
Alderman Jerry Lowery took issue with the inclusion of funding for the Sparta Electric Department’s automated metering program, which he is not in favor of. At that time, Mayor Jeff Young said he asked Dorsey to include it in the budget to show a complete picture of possible expenditures for the year.
The board meets at 5 p.m. Thursday at Sparta City Hall.
