Sparta Board of Aldermen approved the purchase of a flocculator for the water treatment plant Thursday night.
The device promotes the clumping together of small particles into larger ones, allowing for easier removal from the water. The purchase price set at $94,500.
Mayor Jerry Lowery said the device will help with improvements at the water plant.
In other business, the Mayor will sign a boundary line agreement for a piece of land on Emma Officer Road. A neighbor to the lot found during a survey that the descriptions and dimensions needed to be tightened up.
The Aldermen also approved on second reading the addition of a Commercial Landfill Rate fee schedule to the city ordinance. Previously, the county collected this money when it owned the landfill. The addition will not mean any extra fees for commercial accounts.
