Sparta Alderman Addresses Public Concern On City Road Project

The Sparta Board of Aldermen addressed public concern about the state of Wagoner Street Thursday night.

Alderman Jim Floyd said he has received several calls regarding the work. Public Works Director Dillard Quick said the street is currently under utility rehab causing the conditions.

“Water department is going through and taking the meter off the old line and to the newer line,” Quick said. “Once they get finished with that, the street department will put asphalt or concrete.”

Quick said the road should be completely repaved in the spring.

In other business, the Board of Aldermen approved City Administrator Tonya Tindle’s contract. She was appointed last month, but now is officially hired. Details of the contract were not shared during the meeting.
