South Cedar Avenue Fire Inside Converted Garage

Cookeville fire crews spent two hours on scene Wednesday night fighting a structure fire on South Cedar Avenue.

Chief Daryl Blair said the call came in just before 10:30 PM. Blair said there were no injuries but the structure took internal and external damage.

“It had a lot of hot spots,” Blair said. “And the way it had been built on the inside, had to air quite a bit out to get to where the hot spots were.”

Blair said the structure appeared to be a detached garage that had been converted into an apartment. Blair said the starting point and cause of the fire are still being investigated.

He said the Cookeville Police Department is assisting the Cookeville Fire Department in the investigation.
