Jacob Snyder appeared in court for his arraignment hearing Wednesday at the Clay County Courtroom.
Snyder faces one count of first-degree murder as well as two counts of attempted first-degree murder following a shooting in Whitleyville Monday.
The shooting claimed the life of 11-year-old Harley Evans and hospitalized two adults who are being treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
The 29-year-old was walked from an isolated cell wearing a ballistic vest as he was read the charges against him.
District Attorney Bryant Dunaway said after the hearing charges could change depending on the conditions of the two adult victims.
Dunaway added Snyder is being held in a separate cell from other inmates due to the severity of his crime.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled at the Clay County Courtroom on Dec. 12. Public Defender Craig Fickling is set to represent Snyder during the hearings.
