Smithville Man Admits To Drinking Prior To Friday Morning Crash

A 21-year-old Smithville man has admitted to drinking prior to crashing his vehicle on Highway 111 Friday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a blood alcohol concentration test will determine if Austin T. Bryan faces any charges.

The crash happened on Highway 111 northbound at 5:19 a.m.

According to a THP crash report, Bryan’s 2004 Toyota 4Runner overturned on its top after it struck a tractor-trailer in the northbound lane of the roadway. The THP said Bryan was traveling South in the northbound lane of travel.

The report said Bryan admitted to drinking prior to the crash. Officials said he was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did not suffer any injuries.
