Smith Co. Receives Grant To Fund Improvements To Court Facilities

Smith County has received a grant that will fund improvements to courtroom facilities.

The $30,000 grant from the Administrative Office of the courts will pay for new security fencing and gates to the Smith County Jail and courts facility in Carthage.

A 10-percent match will be required by the county or about $3,372.

Officials said the facility improvements will get underway in 2018.
