Six Cent Property Tax Increase Proposed In Cumberland Co.

Cumberland County property owners could be facing a tax increase.

The County Budget Committee recommended a 6-cent tax increase as they unanimously approved the upcoming fiscal year budget last night.

Officials say the proposed increase would fund school building upgrades at Crab Orchard Elementary and Cumberland County High School. Those projects are estimated to cost $12.3 million.

The proposal now goes to the full county commission for approval.
