Show Off Your Photography And Cookeville’s City Parks In New Contest

If you’ve got great photos of the seasons inside Cookeville’s park, you could show off your work through Cookeville Leisure Services’ new photo contest.

One winner’s photo will go on the cover of Leisure Life Magazine. Marketing & Communications Specialist Haley Smith said she wanted to do the contest to showcase the community and local talent.

“Most of the photos we use are photos that the person in my position goes out, and they take photos at events and at the park, and I have a little bit of a photography background, and I know some great photographers in town,” Smith said. “And I though it would be a great opportunity to kind of bring the photography community in and help us show case the beauty of our park.”

The first place winner will also get a full page in the magazine to feature their photography and advertise their social media profiles. Photographers can submit their photos in the Leisure Services section on the city of Cookeville’s website. The deadline to enter is January 31.

Smith said this is a good opportunity for local photographers.

“It’s a really fun opportunity to showcase your work as well as showcase what makes Cookeville beautiful,” Smith said. “You can show the community the work that you’re producing. It’s a great way to get your photography out there and a great way to show off Cookeville pride.”

If you have photos you took in the summer or spring at Cane Creek, Dogwood Park or one of the other eight city parks, you can enter your photo in the contest.

“We are kind of looking for things that are kind of more landscape or nature photography, or if you have a really great photo of someone in the park enjoying some aspect of the park, that’s also going to be great,” Smith said.

Second and third place winners will have their photos featured on in Leisure Life Magazine in a half page spread. Honorable mentions will be featured on the Leisure Departments social media pages.

Leisure Life Magazine is a bi-yearly magazine that features Cookeville’s parks and facilities and all the events planned for that season. It also includes things going on at CPAC, The Depot Museum and the History Museum.
