Cumberland County Mayor Kenneth Carey counts himself among those excited for the new Shooting Sports Park.
City of Crossville officials joined the county to hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for the facility Monday morning.
“It’s going to be a really unique facility, nothing else like it in the area, a good place to come out and enjoy some shooting sports,” Carey said.
The park will include shooting and archery courses, Carey said. It will also be open for law enforcement training, gun safety courses and carry courses.
“We anticipate being open, maybe not fully open, but open to the public and shooting on most of the courses in the spring of 2018,” Carey said.
Carey said a nonprofit organization will construct, own and operate the Shooting Sports Park.
