A couple of spots across the Upper Cumberland could see a strong thunderstorm this Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Clay, Cumberland, Fentress, Overton and Pickett Counties until 11pm tonight.
A cold front over West Tennessee continues moving eastward, triggering today’s warm and somewhat humid day. That could produce some strong storms this evening with hail and high winds.
Van Buren County saw quarter and dime size hail from a storm around 5pm. The Fall Creek Falls golf course saw hail accumulation, according to a storm report.
The entire Upper Cumberland could see a round of severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening. Forecasters say models are showing strong instability Monday but the movement of an upper level low that would trigger that instability remains uncertain.
