Serious Injuries Avoided In Wednesday Crash

A van and tractor trailer crashed during heavy rain on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County Wednesday.

The crash happened around 12:35 p.m. at westbound mile marker 313.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver of the van lost control in heavy rain, causing the vehicle to spin out, roll over, and strike a tree on the left side of the roadway.

Officials said the driver of the tractor trailer attempted to avoid the van, causing the vehicle to run off the left side of the road and strike a tree.

Both drivers avoided serious injuries and refused treatment.
