Seniors throughout the Upper Cumberland have a chance to show off their trivia knowledge with the annual Brain Games tournament.
LaNelle Godsey is an assistant director with the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities.
She said the annual trivia tournament brings something special to the area’s senior centers.
“Folks really enjoy it and what we’ve started doing is whoever wins the Brain Games, here, they get the opportunity to host next year’s,” Godsey said.
The Fentress Fossils, representing the Fentress County Senior Center, won last year’s tournament, Godsey said. They’re set to return this year to defend their title. They’ll go up against teams from the Smithville/DeKalb, Smith County, and Baxter senior center teams.
Winner gets a trophy, bragging rights, a berth in the regional tournament and will host next year’s tournament.
The area tournament will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 at South Fentress Elementary School. Any senior center in the area may register a team Thursday, Godsey said.
