Even though it’s founder has retired, the Cookeville Rescue Mission plans to continue to serve the area’s homeless.
The Mission was founded by Pastor Larry Self 41 years ago, CRM Executive Director Kim England said.
Last week, Pastor Larry Self gave his final sermon at Marsh Chapel.
“He’ll always be a great part of the mission here, obviously he’s the founder and dedicated 41 years here, he’s moving on and going to enjoy retirement and just officially stepped down from the pulpit on Sunday,” England said.
England said Self and his wife retired from the mission’s administration four years ago. That’s when she was hired.
“We’re going to continue to serve people, it is a rescue mission, we do serve the homeless, we provide emergency services for those who find themselves homeless, broken, lost, destitute, whatever the situation may be,” England said.
