A search is underway in DeKalb County for a missing Lebanon Police officer from Smithville.
DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray said authorities began searching for officer Joseph Bowen after he failed to return home after leaving work at the Lebanon Police Department this morning.
This afternoon authorities located his 2008 black Chevy Silverado in Dry Creek off Highway 70 in Dowelltown. Bowen was not inside the vehicle. It appears the vehicle left Highway 70 and went off an embankment into the creek.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is searching the creek bank by helicopter while crews from DeKalb and Putnam counties search on the ground.
