Schools Placed On Soft Lockdown Tuesday Morning

Two Putnam County schools were placed on soft lockdown this morning as authorities assisted the Nashville Police Department with a warrant service.

Officials said officers responded to a residence on North Washington Avenue to assist the Metro Nashville Cold Case Squad investigate a murder that occurred in December of last year.

Officials said they made the decision to place Cookeville High School and Jere Whitson Elementary School on soft lockdown due to the nature of the investigation.

Authorities said the scene was eventually cleared with no injuries reported.
