Saint Thomas Hosting Free Health Clinic Saturday

Saint Thomas River Park Hospital of McMinnville will host a free healthcare clinic Saturday.

Chief Advocacy Officer Nancy Anness said this will be the organization’s 35th Mission at Home clinic they’ve hosted in the last 10 years.

“We started [the clinics] because we knew there were so many people who were uninsured, so many people who didn’t have access to care,” Anness said, “particularly in rural areas and also in urban areas where there might be a lack of access to care for people who don’t have transportation or they just cannot get to a source of care.”

Anness said the clinic will provide laboratory screenings on-site for those with concerns such as cholesterol or diabetes.

“If you want any of those laboratory screenings, which cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars normally, they will be free to you that day,” Anness said. “It’s a great way to kind of see where you’re at, where is your health, and what those numbers actually look like on paper and how you’re doing.”

Anness said services provided through the clinic include eye exams, dental checkups and extractions, mammogram services, behavioral health, and will fill certain prescriptions.

“We will make sure everybody gets through the door by 2 p.m. and they will be seen at any of the services that we provide that day,” Anness said.

The clinic opens at 8 a.m. and will be located at Warren County High School. Anness encourages anyone with little to no insurance coverage to attend Saturday’s clinic.
