Run For The Wall To Roar Into Cookeville Monday

Run for the Wall motorcycle riders will roar through Cookeville Monday.

For the 5th year Cookeville will serve as an overnight stop for the riders traveling cross-country to Washington D.C.’s Arlington National Cemetery.

Many are Vietnam veterans riding in honor of prisoners of war, those missing in action, or killed in action.

“We just ask everybody to line Jefferson Avenue because it’s always a special welcome for them,” Vice President of Cookeville-Putnam County Visitor Development Zach Ledbetter said. “Predominately Vietnam veterans didn’t get the welcome home that they deserved coming back from the war so this is a healing process for them.”

Riders will arrive around 4:30 p.m. Monday and will depart from the Sam’s Club parking lot Tuesday morning.

“This has been a special event for the community and it has grown each and every year into a bigger and better event,” Ledbetter said.
