The Cookeville Rotary Club will be working to improve the environment later this month.
As an effort to reach the club’s 2018 tree planting goal, local Rotarians will be planting 1,000 seedlings in two wetland areas to provide more vegetation and habitat along the streams in Cookeville.
Noon Rotary Club President Jerry Boyd said the event provides an opportunity for residents to volunteer and for students to obtain community service hours for the Tennessee Promise program.
Boyd said the International Rotary Club President issued a challenge to the 1.2 million Rotarians across the world this year to plant one tree as an effort to support an improved environment.
The tree planting project will be taking place February 24th. Those who would like to take part in the project can meet at 1221 South Willow Avenue at 8:30 a.m. that day.
