Rock And Row Triathlon Taking Place At Rock Island Saturday

Rock Island State Park will benefit from the Rock and Row Triathlon this weekend.

Part of the funding from the third annual event will go to the park.

Jason Richardson founded Support-A-Park, which will be putting on this weekend’s event.

“In the past, groups and organizations would come to the park and essentially use the grounds for private reasons and make a good chunk of money,” Richardson. “Our idea was to do the same thing, but give a half the money to the park.”

In the past two years, Support-A-Park has raised over $3,500 for Rock Island State Park. Richardson hopes to create a non-profit established for the park to help protect it for future generations.

A similar event takes place outside of Nashville called the Harpeth Hustle. Richardson said that event did create a non-profit, which has generated close to $8,000 for Harpeth River State Park.

About 100 people will be competing in Saturday’s event, which will feature a 5k paddle, bike, and run throughout the park.
