White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said property damage in the county appears worse that what he expected.
No serious injuries have been reported, Robinson said.
Robinson said the area from Sparta to McMinnville appears to have suffered the most trees and power lines down. Robinson said many roads in that corridor remain impassable. McMinnville Highway from Iris Drive to County House Road remains closed.
Highway 70 from Sparta to Crossville is open. However, Robinson urged citizens to stay in place.
Robinson said the county’s 911 system has been going up and down. He urged citizens to provide complete information when calling 911 as adjoining counties may be assisting in answering calls.
Caney Fork Electric and Volunteer Energy continue to work to restore power. Robinson said staying off the road will help with that process.
