Roane State Tours Industrial Park For Possible Satellite Campus

Roane State wants to bring a permanent satellite campus to Fentress county.

Fentress County Executive J. Michael Cross said the county has offered the Clarkrange Industrial Park as a possible location.

“We are excited about trying to get Roane State’s permanent facility,” Cross said. “We think it would be a great draw for industry and jobs.”

Cross said the industrial park could possibly house a TCAT center as well.

Roane State has a temporary campus on York Institute’s Campus, but it only has two classrooms and an office.

“We’re looking at trying to expand to where they can have six to eight classrooms and a TCAT center that would serve Fentress, Cumberland, Putnam, and Morgan counties as well,” Cross said.

Jackson County is also working to get a TCAT center to locate next to Jackson County High School. It would be the first higher education campus in Jackson County.
