Roane State and TCAT official hoping to generate interest and awareness for programs at the new Clarkrange campus.
TCAT Oneida/Huntsville Director Dwight Murphy said the new $25 million facility is currently in the design phase, but programs are set to start this summer on existing campuses such as at Roane State and York Institute. He said that includes a nursing program and a building and manufacturing program which will transfer to the new building once completed.
“And then we’ll add building construction and we’ll have auto and diesel at the new building,” Murphy said. “All those things are ongoing because we want to hit the ground running once we complete the new building. So we’re excited.”
Roane State Vice President for Student Learning Diane Ward said it is important to raise awareness both for dual-enrolled high school students and those in the community about the increased opportunities at the new facility. She said the more people who are aware and the more interest is generated, the better the programs can succeed. Murphy said they are also actively seeking more adult students to join the programs as well.
Murphy said they are pleased with the current designs for the new facility. He and Ward agreed that such an expansive project would not be possible without the help of legislators, the city, and the county coming together.
“It really was a team effort to make this possible,” Murphy said.
Site Director Tinesha Key said if students are interested, they can meet with her to learn more. She said that way students can get started with the program and roll over onto the new campus.
