Run For The Wall Visits May 22

“Run For The Wall” will roar through Putnam County Monday, May 22.

County Executive Randy Porter said the group should ride into Cookeville around 4:30 p.m.

“It’s a great thing, those guys go all across the country, we’re just fortunate that they’re stopping here in Putnam County. They have every year so far and they say Putnam County is one of their favorite places to stop on their ride,” Porter said.

Each year, Run For The Wall riders gather in Los Angeles to begin a cross-country trek, ending at Arlington National Cemetery. Many ride for those who were killed or missing in action or in honor of PTSD.

Each year, the riders come back for an overnight stay.

“I think it’s the hospitality, when you look at the hundreds of folks who will turn out and line the streets to welcome them, we show them our hospitality by having an event and feeding them that night, make sure they’re taken care of that night and showing them off the next morning on their ride, I think it just shows what a great community we live in,” Porter said.
