Riddle Wins Putnam Co Commission Race, Sanders Elected Register Of Deeds

Putnam County Republican Candidate Robert Riddle has won the District Nine County Commission seat in a three-person race.

Riddle received 1,240 votes beating Democratic Candidate Barbara Myers who got 302 votes. Tim Terry running as an Independent Candidate tallied 163 votes. Riddle said he is honored that the people of his district supported his campaign.

“I was approached by a few people and said that I was needed in our community, and my community has always done a lot for me,” Riddle said. “I just want to give back.”

Riddle said the new fairgrounds and the future of the Putnam County School System are issues he wants to tackle once he joins the commission. He fills a vacant seat left by previous Commissioner Jimmy Neal.

As for the Register of Deeds race, Republican Candidate John Sanders received 53.87 percent of the vote to win the race. Saunders received 10,244 votes. Independent Candidate Jennifer Holloway Flatt came in second with 3,968 votes.

Democratic Candidate Tim “Tree” McPherson got 3,188 votes. Election results shared are unofficial at this point.
