Focus on Cumberland County Animal Shelter has offered a reward for information that could identify the person responsible for dumping bags of deceased animals last month.
The organization received three separate reports, according to FOCCAS President Jan Hendrixson.
“I don’t know that they are related, these may be different people that are doing this,” Hendrixson said. It needs to be stopped because it’s wrong and I think the more attention that we can bring to it, the more pressure we can put on the people that would do something like that.”
One deceased dog found inside the city limits. Four adult dogs and two puppies also found dead around the Vandever area, a more rural part of the county. Hendrixson said at least two of those dogs suffered gunshot wounds to the neck.
The organization has offered a $1,000 dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.
“Somebody knows something, so if you have seen something or know something, please say something,” Hendrixson said. “We need to send a strong message to whoever would do something like this that it doesn’t represent the values of the people in this county and it needs to stop.”
