Renovations On Jets Football Stadium Begin Next Week

A pre-construction meeting with the contractor completed Friday, work will begin on renovations to the Cumberland County High School Football Stadium next week.

Upland Design Group’s Kim Chamberlin said crews will begin arriving Monday to get setup for the renovation project.

“We’ll see work on that starting soon and that’s got a 90-day time period on it,” Chamberlin said. “It’ll move at a fast pace weather-permitting.”

The project will improve drainage on the field. Often during football season, the field becomes a muddy mess because of water from adjacent roads.

The School Board Thursday night approved a $1,500 expenditure for a state permit to move the project forward. Renovations of the stadium and facilities would be next with bids due in mid May.

Cumberland County High School graduation will be held indoors this year because of the construction.

The board also approved a $293,000 bid on renovations to the Cumberland County High School restrooms. The bid came in under the $500,000 estimate. Contractors will begin as soon as the school year ends and should be complete by the first week of August.

Chamberlin said roof repair on the bus maintenance garage will also begin soon.
