67-year-old Patricia Lane fell victim to the tornado Tuesday.
She used to be neighbors with Elizabeth Dawn at the Echo Valley Apartments. Dawn said she’s known Patricia for over 10 years.
“She was very kind and compassionate toward others. She liked to always help people and bless them with things. She was always volunteering at her church and doing dinners and things whenever they would need help, she would help them. Many of the other people that lived in the apartments next to her she got close to them also and she would give us all gifts to our children. So she just really liked to bless people.”
Patricia was a dedicated Christian and attended Collegeside Church of Christ. Dawn said she was always inviting people to events the church would host.
“She was really fun to be around, she was a real sweet lady. Even after we move out of the apartments, and we would see her in town she would come up to us and give us a hug and tell us how much she missed us living next door to her. She’s was just a friendly and outgoing lady,” Dawn said. “She was always at church events, I mean she would tell me all the time when we were living there that certain things were going on at her church and she was going to be gone to go help them out with whatever things that they needed.”
Another neighbor Patricia had at the apartment complex was Paige and Curtis Jones. Paige said they were neighbors for about four years.
“Somehow she just made it feel like a little community. She was the thing that just brought us all together. I mean she was always visiting each of us, she just really made it feel like home, she made it a really pleasant place to live,” Jones said. “We had a lot of conversations, she talked to me a lot about her family, she was so proud of her family. I never got to meet any of them, but I felt like I knew them. She loved our kids, we were newly weds when we first moved in and we had two of our children while we lived there. She never missed a birthday, a Christmas, she was always giving them gifts. That’s just who she was, she was kind and warm to be around.”
Jones referred to a Biblical passage from Colossians chapter 3 verse 12 describing Patricia’s character. She added Patricia was a loving, caring Christian who truly loved Jesus.
