Jerry “Bird” Lowhorn, Age 51, Of Monterey, Passed Away On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, At His Home. Mr. Lowhorn Was Born On March 4, 1967, In Monterey, To Christene Tayes Lowhorn Of Monterey, And The Late Leonard Jr. Lowhorn. Mr. Lowhorn Was A Self-Employed Drywall Hanger And Finisher. In Addition To His Mother, He Is Survived By His Wife, Renee Poteet Lowhorn Of Monterey; 1 Daughter, Brooklyn Lowhorn Of Monterey; 2 Sons, Dakota Lowhorn Of Monterey, Cole Lowhorn (And Renea Hays) Of Monterey; 1 Grandson, Grayson “BeBop” Lowhorn Of Monterey; 3 Sisters And Brothers-In-Law, Kaye And Larry Phillips Of Watertown, Debbie And Mike Ray Of Cookeville, Betty And Richard Parker Of Monterey; 4 Brothers And 3 Sisters-In-Law, Leonard And Brenda Lowhorn Of Monterey, Ted And Joyce Lowhorn Of Monterey, Garry Lowhorn Of Monterey, Larry And Laura Lowhorn Of Watertown. A graveside service and interment, with military honors, for Avery Philip Roberts, 80 of Silver Point will be held Thursday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Pastor Ted Kocher will officiate. Mr. Roberts died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Funeral services for Martha Jo Fields, age 87, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Raymond Handsides officiating. Interment will follow in Dry Valley Cemetery. Ms. Fields died at her home on Friday, March 9, 2018 in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born on Friday, January 23, 1931, to Joe C. and Anna Mai Bartlett. She was a longtime employee of McCord’s Manufacturing Plant, before returning to school to become a Lab Technician. She worked in healthcare in Cookeville and Nashville for many years. Martha was a member of Dry Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a talented seamstress and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe C. and Anna Mai Bartlett; infant son Joe Ronald “Ronnie” Fields; son Michael “Mickey” Fields; son Dennis Fields; and sister, Geneva Bartlett Winebarger. Martha is survived by sister, Marcia Bartlett Byrge; son Dale (Leesa) Fields; daughter, Denise (Kenneth) Franklin; grandchildren, Kerri (Jamie) Bullock; Rachel Fields; Matthew (Kelly) Fields and Clint Franklin; great-grandchildren Wade White and Jarrett White. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edwon Dishman, age 69 of Livingston, will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Dishman passed away on Saturday evening, March 10, 2018 at the Overton Co. Health and Rehab. Mr. Dishman was born in Livingston on January 10, 1949 to the late Hollis Fred and Ruth Lee (Cantrell) Dishman. Charles made his living by working in the automotive factory for years. He is survived by 3 Sons: Bryan Dishman, Wayne Dishman, Travis Dishman; 6 Grandchildren: Colton Dishman, Dalton Dishman, Dylan Dishman, Hayden Dishman, Alyssa Dishman, Dakota Dishman; 3 Great Grandchildren: Keelee Phillips, August and Jay Dishman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: 1 Son: Scott Dishman; 1 Sister: Sue Dishman Stanley. Mr. Gore passed from this life in Anderson, in the comfort of his loving family on Monday evening, March 12, 2018. He was born in Overton County on January 1, 1934 to the late Frank L. & Della Cantrell Gore. He served his country in the Army during peacetime. He married Velma Lee Hammock on May 6, 1957. He worked for many years and retired from General Motors Corporation. Bernard had a deep love for animals and took his pets wherever he traveled. Funeral services for James Henderson Ford, age 97 of Sparta, TN, will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Myron Greer and Darcy Abbott officiating.

Mr. Ford passed on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born in Putnam County, on October 8, 1920, to the late James Henderson and Addie McDaniel Ford. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Rilda Wilmoth Ford, his sons, James T. Ford and Paul E. Ford; brothers, Talmadge, Hubert, Millard, Woodrow, Silas, and Tom; sisters, Pansy McCloud, Mattie Belle, Margaret Shaver Wilmoth, and Mae Fields. Mr. Ford is survived by two sons, David L. Ford of Murfreesboro, Jerry W. Ford of Sparta; daughter-in-law Sharon Clark Ford of Cookeville; nine grandchildren, Tonya Ford, Brandi King, Betsy (Darcy) Abbott, April Cross, Alisha Jacobs, Amy (Jonathan) Moss, Nathan Ford, Andrea (Brett) Patterson, and Angel Ford; nineteen Great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilmoth and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a World War II veteran, who served from October 3, 1941, until October 17, 1945, in the U.S. Army. During that time he served as a mortarman in the European Theater for over 2 years. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for heroism in the field of battle, and a Purple Heart for injuries received. He was a farmer and a factory worker for over 50 years retiring in 1985. He continued farming after retirement and enjoyed raising a huge garden and giving food to family, friends, neighbors, and total strangers. He loved bowling and spent many Monday mornings at Bowling World with other retired friends. He also enjoyed challenging friends and family in games of dice and cards. A favorite pastime was deer hunting, and he spent many early mornings sipping coffee in the cold woods.

Burial will be in the Daniels Cemetery. Mr. Wakefield passed from this life on Saturday afternoon at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center. He was born in Madison, Tennessee on December 19, 1930 to the late Ambrose & Lillie King Wakefield. Mr. Wakefield loved sports, gardening & his family. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards and loved children. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Joyce Ledbetter Wakefield of Livingston; daughter, Sandy Wakefield of Ann Arbor, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Moe was preceded in death by his son, Roy Dale Wakefield; sister, Juanita Leonard & brother, Arnold Wakefield. Johnie was born on May 24, 1925 in Windle, TN, to the late Hannah Elizabeth (Poston) and Herman Webb. Johnie is survived by one daughter: Janet and husband Johnny Gann of Livingston. Four grandchildren: Wm. Lynn and wife Cecilia Gann of Houston, TX; Jeannie and husband Chad Cavendish of Fredericksburg, VA; Wesley and wife Cailey Webb of Baxter, and Shanae Webb of Cookeville. Eight great-grandchildren; Jordan Gann of Fayetteville, AR; Julia Gann and Jaden Gann of Houston, TX; Mason Cavendish, Audrey Cavendish and Ethan Cavendish of Fredericksburg, VA; Branch Webb of Baxter, TN, and Ava Grace Webb of Cookeville. He is also survived by a sister: Betty and husband Bill Sells of Gambril, MD; and a brother: Kenneth and wife Jimmie Webb of Livingston. In Addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son, John Stephen Webb; a brother, Dempsie Webb; and sisters, Edith Webb, Gladys Biddle and Sue Anna Brock. Ms. Lee passed from this life Sunday, March 11, 2018, at her home in Gainesboro. She was born Friday, May 27, 1927, in Winthrop, Massuchetts to the late Harold G. and Annie G. (McAulisse) Leighton. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and was part of the welcoming committee for the Pope when he came to Florida. She loved to travel and especially loved Tennessee. Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Pattie and Rick Ditewig of Wisconsin, Ann Marie and John Santiago of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 1 Daughter-in-law: Susan Lee of Gainesboro; 13 Grandchildren; 38 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister: Rita Kronhleim. Bettye was born Tuesday, June 25, 1935 in White City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Bessie (Fletcher) Dent. Bettye was a pastor’s wife who served 58 years with her husband Ray. She served on the Kentucky district Nazarene missions council. Bettye was a representative for her local church at general assemblies, district assemblies, mission conventions, and served as a faithful Sunday school teacher. Bettye was a devoted wife, loving daughter, loyal sister, wonderful mom and a kind and caring grandmother and great-grandmother.
