Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Marie Buford Terry Sewell, age 91, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. David Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Sewell passed away Sunday February 11, 2018 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. She was born February 4, 1927 in the Willow Grove Community of Clay County, TN to the late Haskell and Allie Fletcher Buford. Mrs. Sewell was a member of Northeast Church of Christ. She was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods. She is survived by her son, Gary Terry; daughters, Connie (Jim) Clarke, Judy (Joe) Herbert, Rachel (E.O.) Palmer, Jo Marie Kaiser, Rita (Ray) Duncan, Dale (Jerry) McKenzie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Juanita) Buford; sisters-in-laws, Judy Buford and Jane Buford. Pallbearers will be Stephen Buford, Tim Buford, Greg Buford, Todd Mainord, Mark Bradley, and Scott Warren. Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Virginia Jones, 66, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the McCoinsville Church of Christ in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community. She passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at her residence. She was born July 12, 1951, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Carlos Allen and Hazel Thomas. She was married to Mackie Jones, who survives. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mr. Cart Nelson Pettit, age 79 of Knoxville, formerly of White County, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Jericho Cemetery. Mr. Pettit passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Pettit was born March 21, 1938 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Thomas Wayne & Vica Ree McCormick Pettit. He had a work career that spanned from being an electrical engineer to a sales manager for American General Insurance. Nelson was an avid outdoorsmen loving to camp and water ski but his true joy came from serving his church. He was a member of Central Baptist Church Hixson, Tennessee where served as a deacon, youth director and R.A. director. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Cart Pettit and brother Thomas Wayne Pettit. His surviving family includes his wife of nearly 57 years Nancy Nabors Pettit of Knoxville. Son: Roger Nelson Pettit and wife Kristi of Bartlett, TN. Grandchildren: Corey Nelson Pettit of Chicago and Chase Pettit of Bartlett. Sisters: Linda Pettit of Arizona and Nancy Kosee and husband Jerry of Old Hickory. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home. She passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born September 19, 1933, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Ernest Craton Bull and Sarah Bean Bull. She was married to R.B. Wiley, who survives. She was an auto factory worker, and a member of the Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Grandchild: Matthew Haramija; and 11 Brothers and Sisters.

Mrs. Stoglin passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Mrs. Stoglin was born March 19, 1936 in White County to the late Charlie & Mollie Belle Baker Tollison. Helen’s work career consisted of years at the Sparta Shirt Factory and Russell Stover Candies. Helen was a life-long and active member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. She was an active homemaker providing for her family as well as her community when her cooking or a helping hand was needed. She was an avid gardener and love to fish with Lenell and the kids and later the grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Helen is also preceded in death by sisters Pearl Anderson, Modena Fisher, Anna Lee Cole; brothers Floyd, John, Bill and Pleas Tollison.
Funeral services for Mrs. Liddie B. Thomas, 77, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community of Jackson County. She passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Fairfield, Ohio. She was born October 22, 1940, in Jackson County, to the late Martin Lewis Hensley and Prudy Ann Hensley. On January 31, 1956 she was married to the late James William “Harry Bill” Thomas. She was a factory worker at Nielsen & Bainbridge, and was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: James Noel Thomas, 1 Brother: Willis “Bear” Hensley; and 1 Sister: Barbie Sterry. Survivors include 3 Sons: William Wayne Thomas of Gainesboro; Richard Gene Thomas of Smithville; and Travis (Jennifer) Thomas of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters: Brenda (Tim) Collins of Gainesboro and Linda (Ben) Crossman of Fairfield, Ohio; 12 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Sister: Margaret Newman of Ashland City. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Mae Qualls, age 88, of Algood, will be at 2 p.m. Friday February 16 at the Algood Family Event Center. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. Mrs. Qualls went home to be with her Lord and join her late husband on Tuesday evening February 13, 2018 while at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until service time.
Funeral Services for Gladys P. Mills, age 87, of Cookeville, will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17th in the Chapel of Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Marlow Cemetery, McBroom Branch Rd., Baxter, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Friday, February 16th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. at Presley Funeral Home. She was born November 12, 1930 to the late Ridley and Mattie McHenry. She grew up in the Martin’s Creek community. Mrs. Mills was a homemaker and a babysitter for her six grandchildren and countless other children over the years who affectionately called her Granny Mills. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning. Her family will always remember the chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits that she was known for.
A time of visitation for William Robert “Bobby” Robinson, Jr., age 81 of Sparta, will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 from 2-5:00pm at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home where friends and family can gather to tell stories and celebrate Bobby. At Bobby’s request he will be cremated following the visitation services. Bobby was born September 16, 1946 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late William Robert & Geneva Randolph Robinson. He graduated with a master’s degree from Tennessee Tech University and began a teaching career at Doyle school. After the death of his father, he stopped teaching to help his mother with the family grocery store, Robinson’s Grocery. Bobby was a sports fan, an avid reader, a history buff and a world traveler. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his uncle Charles Robinson and a best friend Ronnie Clark. Funeral services for Mrs. Phyllis Maxwell Ledbetter, age 62, of Livingston, will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Phyllis Maxwell Ledbetter passed from this life on Monday afternoon, February 12, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Jackson County on September 28, 1955 to Billy and Villa Thompson Maxwell. She was a 1973 graduate of Livingston Academy. She worked in data entry manufacturing rubber stamps and signs. Phyllis was Christian in faith. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and she enjoyed going to flea market auctions and yard sales. She loved her grandchildren and her cats very much. Phyllis is survived by her son, Bradley Gore and wife Stacey of Cookeville; parents, Billy and Villa Maxwell of Hilham; step-daughter, Marsha Wyatt of Cookeville; 2 grandchildren, Makiyah Gore and Malia Gore; 2 step-grandchildren, Aiden Wyatt and Ashlyn Wyatt; sister, Angela Hester of Livingston, TN; and brother, Billy Maxwell Jr. and wife LouAnn of Hilham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ledbetter and step-son, Michael Ledbetter Jr. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening, February 17, 2018 from 4 until 8 p.m.
